Party Girl

Let it never be said that grass grows under my feet! How's that for the quick switcheroo? All because of those pesky Firefox people, of which I intend to become one very soon. I think using this program, instead of doing the hand coding (with the help of Front Page of course) will be one of those things where I slap my forehead and say, "Why didn't I do this long ago?"

Steve and I went to see The Watercoolers a couple of weeks ago. It was at the Downstairs Cabaret Theatre, of which there are actually 3 locations in Rochester. We had been to one of them once before, a very small hole in the wall. This one was bigger, with tables on a few levels. Next time, we might try sitting on the big comfy couches they have there too. Steve had a beer and I had a bottle of water and we shared a slice of carrot cake.

There's a loose story line but mostly it's song parodies, all about life in the office. We both liked it - laughed quite a bit. My favorite song was about "Who Will Buy?" my crap - all the stuff parents try to sell at the office for their kids - wrapping paper, candy bars, you know the drill. There was an ode to Palm Pilots that I liked a lot too. Wish I could remember more of the real songs they parodied! "In My Room" was in my cube, I remember. Funny stuff.

This weekend, we went to Pineapple Jack's Bar & Grill to help my good friend Nancy celebrate her 40th birthday. (Hi Nantz!) There was food and drink provided (and we got to wear a very stylish plastic shot glass necklace to indicate we were with the party!) Kathy & Kim were there with their husbands so we all chatted a bunch. These are a couple of the women I have lunch with every other month or so - and not only did they used to work with me but their husbands did too. Poor Steve was the odd man out, plus he was nursing a cough - but he's such a good sport to not minding going with me.

Honestly, we scooted out after about an hour and a half. Steve was adament that I explain to my friends, when I see them again in two weeks, that it was not he who wanted to leave but me. As I pointed out to him, not one of my friends blinked an eye when I said we were leaving. My reputation precedes me. I ate, I drank (my infamous cranberry juice), I socialized. We went home. I've never been a big party kind of girl, but it seems like I like my doses smaller and smaller as the years go on. Haven't gone to the company Christmas party in years - and no one even asks me anymore if I"m going. Anyway, it was fun and Nancy seemed to having a great time, so it was all good.

We're expecting a decent snowfall tonight and tomorrow. I'm glad because I want to take some outdoor pictures. One of the new things I want to try selling at the store is postcards. And for that, I need to take higher quality photographs. When I got my camera, I got used to taking the lowest resolution possible, intent on saving room on the disk. But I never even come close to using up all the space on any one outing, so it's not a problem to take higher resolution photos. Next I suppose I'll have to learn PhotoShop. (I have several online friends/experts so you guys may be hearing from me!) Heck, now that my journal, I mean blog, is here, maybe some of my time will be freed up - so I'll have time to learn PS. For example, I'm writing this entry on my lunch hour today. With my other journal, I could have written entries at work and just uploaded them when I got home - never really thought about it, for some reason.

I have lots of tweaking to do but this is a good start. Stay tuned. :-)

Nice! The Watercoolers sounds like fun; we have The Capitol Steps here in DC, who do a similar gig aimed at the gubmint, of course.

Guess that is why I like Diaryland so much. And if and when I ever learn enough html maybe I can change the looks of my template to a more pleasing aspect.

Wow! What a difference. I guess I need to do that to mine, too, but I just haven't had time to sit down and do it. Anyway, congratulations on the change! :)

Okay there is another entry up in your blog, I had a comment to make about, darn, I forgot what now.

Been messing with trying to get blogger to accept any part of me.

Each time there is some ding-bat complication for this old dog of a Doug. I re-eenlisted as another live body - let me try again.
