Questions

I still can't get my computer to recognize my digital camera. I've read the software manual and the camera manual. I'm doing everything the same as I always have. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the camera software. I bought new rechargeable batteries and fully charged them.

Here's my question, two really. This is what it says, in part, in the camera manual under supported software: Only systems pre-installed with Windows 98 . . . are supported. Could this have anything to do with my Windows 98 operating system being recently reinstalled? That pre-installed thing is what I don't understand.

I'm back - I just downloaded new drivers, thus updating the software. Still nada.

Any suggestions as to what I should do? I'm considering taking my camera to the camera shop where I bought it - is that the thing to do? I should also tell you this - there's normally a green light that I'm quite certain stays lit when it's connected to the computer. Now it only flickers when I first turn the camera on, then goes off. That's what makes me think the problem is with the camera.

Next question. Is feeling the blues part of menopause? I've been feeling that way all week and mostly attributed it to this stupid laryngitis I still have. (I bought Mucinex today at the suggestion of several people and it seems to be helping even this first day. My cough feels more productive, if you're interested in the details!)
I have several things I could be blue about but none feel big enough to cause this much blueness. I know mood swings are part of it - is that what this is? Seriously, I could just go hibernate for about a month it feels like.
No matter what the reason is, I know what to do about it, it's just hard getting up the gumption to do it, having the blues and all.
1. Snap out of it.
2. Eat properly, including more soy products.
3. Exercise regularly.
I'm open to advice on all fronts.

Closing on a happier note, I took this afternoon off to continue painting the bathroom that I started 2 weekends ago, before I got sick. I painted the ceiling a nice shiny white and primed the walls. Tomorrow afternoon - the color goes on! Pictures to follow. Oh shit! Don't mention my camera again!!

Oh Stefani, the blues is a huge part of menopause. Believe you me. Then the mood swings kick in, which really makes it fun! If you're not ready or don't want to do HRT, try a very nice homeopathic remedy called Remifemin. I used it while my symptoms were still fairly mild and worked really well.

Hi Stefani,
I could never get my computer at home (windows 2000) to see my camera. Even my friend who is a self professed computer nerd and owns his own software company couldn't do it. I finally just took it to work (Windows 2000) and hooked it up to my computer there. Not convenient, but it works.
Also, thanks for letting us know about Rosie's blog. I've added that to my list of daily reads.
One more thing - I too am feeling pretty blue right now. I just interviewed at a huge world known company and 3 of the people I interviewed with told me they were going to recommend me for the job. I'm terrified that I'll actually get it. I need the money, but I love my little job that I have now - I'm the secretary for a principal in a middle school. I have had two major panic attacks since the interview and I am actually dreading the phone call to say that I got the position. I'm just going to stay active today and not let my mind dwell on it. It's the nights that scare me - nothing to do, so I start thinking. Oh well, have a great day and stay busy!

Thanks, Mary - I'll get some Remifemin today. I feel better knowing that this is menopause-related.

Joan - that's a tough decision ahead of you, job-wise! It sure sounds like your body is telling you to stay put. If you need the money, are there other things you can do to help that situation - cut expenses anywhere for instance? Good luck to you!

Regarding blues, I'm behind you in the menopausal stage, so I don't know if it's related or not. IMHO, ( I got that from you, you know!) I think it's just because you've been sick and you're drained. Sounds like you've had a lot of changes in your life recently, and that can be draining also. You need a vacation and a dose of sunshine!

Regarding camera issue, any chance it is the USB cable? When you have it connected to the computer, and then open My Computer, do you see a removable drive? I doubt it has anything to do with Windows 98 being reinstalled, but I could be wrong.

/nyhow, have a nice weekend!!!

Hi, mind another opinion? Try increasing your calcium intake. It helps with hormonal mood fluctuations (at least, it has for me). I started drinking milk (yuk!) and taking generic Lactaid (works! Really!) and the PMS that usually inspires me to murder was significantly decreased the last two months. Hope you are feeling better, Stefani! :)
