Happy Fall
The mini hub I ordered online arrived yesterday, which means I can plug my multi-function printer/scanner/copier/fax machine into the USB connection on my laptop. I can print just fine (except for tha damn magenta problem I've yet to clear up) but I can't scan because I need the software CD which presumably came with the printer but I can't find it. I've looked in the usual places in my office and in Steve's and it's not there. That's highly unusual - we're both pretty darn organized. So this weekend I'll look harder - and then figure something else out if I have to. I cannot be without my scanner! That was my long explanation for why I photographed the above card instead of scanning it. It's for a friend at work who has been having a rough time the last couple of days. I also baked some brownies for one of the IT guys who dropped what they were doing to help me out today. It's nice to be nice to the nice. (Anyone know what TV show that is from?)

I enjoyed this.

Didn't Frank Burns say "It's nice to be nice" on MASH?
On your fall card, did you hand write happy fall, or is a sticker, or did you print it? Love the card - is the pumpkin a quickutz die?
Ding-ding-ding - Stephanie is a winner!
Yep Dara, the pumpkin is a QuicKutz die - and that happy fall is a stamp - savvystamps.com.
Stefani, the scanner software should be part of the multifunction software to print, etc. (at least mine is). Anyway, maybe you could download the latest version from the manufacturer's website. That's usually more up to date than what's on the CD anyway.
Very interesting link to the blog entry about Bush. Expresses my opinion right on. I can't believe he ever got elected...twice. There isn't an ounce of humanism in that man.
Gretchen -
The computer found the new hardware, drivers, everything for the printer automatically. There's a place to add a scanner/camera, but it only lists various manufacturers and models of cameras so that seems like a deadend.
I've tried downloading the software from brother.com but it's weird - it's in several pieces and nothing specifically mentions scanning - just copying, faxing and printing. This weekend, I'll look at that piece more closely and thoroughly.
The scanning software is actually PaperPort, from scansource.com and they don't have a free version. I tried loading the software from my old computer onto a CD and loading it on the laptop. While it shows a million components of the software, nothing appears to be a setup or application option - just lots of dll files and other stuff. This weekend, I'll look at that more closely too.
I looked, very briefly, into other scanner software to see if I could go that route, but I really just want what I want, you know?
See why I want to find the software that came with MFC?
Thanks - I appreciate the ideas. I'm open to any suggestions!
Stefani
