Good Samaritan
.
We hung up and Simon went over to see if he could help. The driver got out of the car and Simon asked him if he was alright. The guy fell to the ground and started having convulsions! Thank goodness, other people were running to the scene to help him. I wouldn't have known what to do either! ("That was intense, Mom!")
Simon and I were on the phone today during the lunch hour. I was in the Fairport post office parking lot and he was in the Penfield Monro Muffler parking lot. While we were talking, Simon witnessed a car accident right in front of him. A car was driving from the parking lot Simon was in, to a parking lot across the street, across 4 lanes. A van, traveling down the 4-lane road, crashed into the side of the car, spinning it around.

Simon stuck around to give his eye witness account to the police officer. He kept calling me back, he was pretty shaken up. "Mom, there were little kids in that van!" I think he said there were two firetrucks, two ambulances and 5 cop cars. They ended up taking the little kids to the hospital too. The police officer said Simon will probably have to give a statement tomorrow. I'm not sure what that means.
I just thought of this too - this was good, in a way, for Simon to see this - the fragility of life and big scary flying thousand pound pieces of metal. He and I will be having a little chat about that later today.

I'm so proud of that boy. I'll be honest, I'm not sure I even would have gone over to the accident. Maybe I would, seeing as how it just happened. I guess you don't know until it happens.

Whenever my daughters and I pass an accident, I take advantage of the opportunity to remind them of how important it is to drive defensively. Good for Simon for going over to see if he could help!
You taught your boy well!
That can be a scary thing to witness. Things just happen so fast.
Yeah, Kenny looks just plan odd. I've always thought he was such a handsome man, but these changes don't suit him at all.
I hate to show my ignorance but when I saw him on American Idol last night, I thought he looked so different, but maybe it was the shorter hair and less facial hair. I went to his website and looked at old photos and his face just looks so different. Surgery, right? Botox?
I thought Barry Manilow looked weird the week before, like his face was made of plastic.
Do these people really think this looks good? And once it's done (surgery, at least), it's permanent. Like wearing a mask for the rest of your life.
Gosh, I'm glad I'm naturally beautiful. It's all in the genes, of course.
I remember when I was in high school (many, many moons ago) if you got a moving violation and were under the age of 21 you had to spend several weekend nights helping out at the local emergency room. My girlfriend had to do this and it really made an impression on her. She now has 2 boys that are driving age and she's had them do the same thing at their ER. They admit it's slowed them down and they are more aware of the dangers out there.
Kenny doesn't look any younger to me...he just looks different.
How very scary for Simon! It's true--you don't know how you'll react until it happens. As for Kenny Rogers...UGH.
(If you ever wonder why there are big gaps between my visits here...I can't get your feed to show up in Bloglines! Suddenly I'll think, surely Stefani has posted by NOW.) :)
