Baby Skunks
.
Poor Steve, he didn't know what to think at first. We were driving home from work yesterday in our separate cars, talking on our cell phones (yes, with headsets!) when he heard me say, "Oh my God! Ohhhh, my God!" I quickly explained what I was seeing so he didn't think I'd run off the road. There were three little skunks huddled together trying to cross the road. They are the size of kittens! I've never seen anything like it before. No sign of mama anywhere. Cars were coming up behind me so I couldn't stay stopped long. Then I watched in my rear view mirror and everyone was slowing down to look.
I turned my next corner, pulled in a driveway and turned around and went back. I had to take pictures, even though I knew they would never do the little fluffballs justice. I walked up as close as I dared, used the zoom, my head on a constant swivel, looking for any adult skunks. None to be found so maybe they are orphans. I try not to think about that part.
This is the only picture I got of two of the three together. The third one must have wandered away separately. This just proves that all baby animals are definitely adorable!
Don't you want to just scritchy-scratch them under their furry little chins?

This weekend is Fairport's Canal Days, which is always a ton of fun. I'll be working for MJ for part of both days in her booth, selling her painted glass. She'll be located in the Village Landing parking lot I believe she said. Stop by and say hi.

I can't say that I want to scritchy-scratch them under their furry little chins (they ARE skunks, after all), but they sure are cute!
I'll let you do the scritchy scratch thank you. :-)
Gah - now you've got me worrying about the (possibly) orphaned skunks! They are too cute. Thanks for being brave enough to approach for a picture!
