Flower Border Mandala
.
8" square, made with cardstock, thread, beads and Swarovski crystals.
$36, available at Pine Tree Designs.
I decided to pull my framed pieces out of Creative Presence on Saturday, then came home to find a letter from the promoter of the Casa Larga shows that she's canceling the May show due to lack of interest. Lots (most?) vendors want to only do fall shows, not spring. I'm disappointed but absolutely respect her choice to cancel the show rather than admit lesser quality vendors or "purchased" product. As much as I was looking forward to it, I'd rather not do the show than be associated with a less than great show.
So I think those are the two things that had me feeling a little meloncholy yesterday - nothing to do with my birthday. (Be sure to read my dad's comment on Sunday's entry about birthdays!)
So I took these two negatives as a sign to kick it into high gear. I updated the Mandalas page on my website, as well as the art and the show schedule on the front page.
I called a co-ordinator for another multi-day show I want to get into (Gro-Moore Farms, Mom!), emailed another about the School 46 show - and drumroll, I finally emailed Craft Company No 6. I want to get in there so badly, I think my work would be a perfect fit. But I've been too scared to contact them - the ol' fear of failure/fear of success conundrum. But I did it and we'll see what happens. If you have a minute to check out their website, please do - and also click on the Bus Conversion link. This shows the bus shell the store owners are converting into an RV. Check out the pictures at the bottom of the page of the tiling and wood details. Very cool.
And I looked at the calendar to see that I have two full weekends left to produce inventory like crazy before the Powers Market 4-day show.(And fill existing orders first!) And part of March 17th is devoted to going to Geva Theatre and dinner with my friends.
There's no time for negativity - time to get busy!

This is a new border for me - I like it. I've also made it in smaller versions. I cut punched black daisies in half. I love the way the crystal in the center brightens it up.

A pal of mine once told me never to be afraid to ask, because if you don't, they can't say yes! Good luck!
Wow - that bus conversion is really something!
