Rita's Hands

.

Rita's Hands, 12" x 12".

Remember my post about Kim the other day? There is no sign of her cancer left! Brought a tear to my eye when she gave us the news Saturday. It's that heavy duty drug that got rid of it and she's supposed to be on it for 1-1/2 years but her body is reacting very badly to it so she can't take it anymore. I think it's pretty darn miraculous though that her body accepted it long enough to get rid of the cancer.

I've written about Kim, Kathy & Nancy before. They used to work where I work. We've been getting together for lunch, we figured this out the other night, for 8 or 9 years, something like that. We strive for every other month but sometimes we go longer because it ain't easy coordinating 4 busy women's schedules. So it just worked out that we went out to dinner with Kim and her friends Friday night, then had lunch at my house Saturday.

I'm so not into cooking anymore, unfortunately, though for a while I thought I'd rise to this occasion. Nope. I bought ravioli at The Ravioi Shop. It ain't cheap but man, on man, is it good. We had pumpkin ravioli with a sage brown butter sauce I made - and roasted vegetable ravioli with walnut pesto that was to freakin' die for. The walnut pesto was frozen, just heat & serve. We had garlic bread and fruit salad. We all went back for seconds. I at least thought I would make dessert but ran out of time so I bought a chocolate peanut butter pie. I didn't, but should have taken a picture - it was gorgeous!

After lunch we had an extraordinary conversation - mostly about enabling our kids, a subject near & dear to my heart. We've all emailed each other since Saturday and all came away feeling so close and uplifted. It was very cool.

So in spite of only having Sunday to do Pine Tree Designs stuff, including paperwork, etc. I got a whole lot done. I am shipping two orders today. I finished the sunflower pins and notepads and have put a very decent dent in the ladybugs, soon to be fashioned into notepads and gift tags. I also did about 3 loads of laundry and made a delicious herbed pork tenderloin with good old fashioned mashed potatoes and gravy for dinner last night.

I love going back to work Monday feeling like I really accomplished stuff over the weekend. Motivation begets motivation, you know.

That's really great news about your friend Kim.

Oh my gosh! I looked at The Ravioli Shop's website and now I'm starving. I want to try every variety! Too bad I don't live up there or maybe it's good. :)
