Farmers Market

.

When I lived in the village for 17 years I went to the Saturday Farmer's Market a lot. I walked or rode my bike. Since we moved out here in 2000, I just can't seem to remember to go. But I want this year to be different so I finally remembered for this weekend. I love to get up early on Saturday mornings anyway. Those strawberries were almost so sweet they didn't require sweetening.

I get my love of fresh flowers from my mom, who always has some around. Dad grows 'em and Mom cuts 'em - that's their deal. I love mixed bouquets like this. $5 buys a week or more of happiness.

I was also curious to see how many craft vendors were at the market - and if they were busy. There were 4-5 maybe and people absolutely seemed to be ignoring them in favor of the fresh produce and plants. Which is exactly what I expected. That venue would have to be an outstanding money maker for me to commit to giving up every Saturday morning May-Oct. Though maybe one doesn't have to commit to the entire season. My quick research just now did not provide the answer to that. (Shannon? How does your NJ market work?)

For this long weekend, we have had picture perfect weather. No humidity, temperatures barely reaching 80. We've had the windows wide open most of the time and eaten most of our meals on the deck.
