Matchbook Notepads
.
Doesn't this look like something I should be making? I found this idea in the Etsy forums. The woman offering the idea uses it as a promotional item to give to her customers - those are her products on the front. She made the mosaic at Big Huge Labs. I played around on that site for a few minutes - lots of fun stuff.
But since paper IS my gig - should I make this as a small (but larger than a matchbook) notepad suitable for purses and pockets? Could I include enough paper to make it worthwhile? Would I put an actual tiny design on the front or photos like this? An actual design would get funky in a purse or pocket. But would my customers buy photos on this when they have the real deal (stitched design) on something else? Do I just incorporate this with my business card to be a promotional item only - but only for paying customers, not just a giveaway? That's a lot of work for a giveaway. My business cards are already a lot of work - each has a hand stitched (thanks Mom!) design on it. Maybe just hand stitch my logo on the front of this, without layers or beads?
My current business card - but my tag line now reads: Handstitched Paper Art.

I absolutely love the idea and would definitely carry one in my purse. I like the stitched idea better than a photo. How about providing one of those little translucent envelopes to keep it in? Or covering it in plastic somehow?
You might use them as an extra gift for buyers. I think it's a great idea, either with a stitched cover or a photo of one of your mandalas on the cover. Photos would be less work, especially if you use them as giveaways. You could also have a stash of stitched ones for sale... I'm just all the map here, aren't I?
And . . . Mom emailed me - what about using those tiny Post It Note pads? I use them a lot at work myself.
I love the extra gift for buyers idea. Maybe try *not* selling them so people have to buy something to get one. Then again, if it turns out to be a hot item - I should sell them. People love the regular Sticky Notes for stocking stuffers. (I'm all over the map here too, Mary!)
Stitching is better than a photo - I agree. That's really a no-brainer the more I think about it.
Terrific ideas - thank you! Prototype to follow.
