It's Been Snowing!

This is what our backyard would look like if it had more hills. We think the Christmas Tree farm that surrounds us is going out of business. The area directly behind our house is quite barren of trees. And their business seems to us to be way down this year, based on the number of cars parked - or rather, not parked in front of our house on the 2 weekends prior to Christmas.

If this is true, it's only a matter of time before they sell out to housing developers and we'll have McMansions in our backyard. Now that we don't have kids in school, Steve & I could move anywhere - but we LOVE our house, it's perfect for us. First thing we've talked about doing is planting trees along our property line to block any views sullied by houses. Oh well, we'll take it day by day. We figured this would happen eventually. Can't say I wouldn't do the same in their circumstances. Gather a tidy sum of money and retire someplace warmer. (We don't know them well enough to ask them what's going on - and I figure, it is what it is.)

Your yard is deep enough that you could plant a nice row (or 2) of evergreens as an eco-barrier. I love ours -- I can't even see the neighbors' houses.

I wish we could plant a row of trees on at least 3 sides. Evergreens don't grow here and anything else you could see around the trunks. :-)

If they do sell out maybe you could buy some trees from them to plant along your property line. That would help them and you at the same time! Be sure to plant them far apart, remember how big the trees are in our yard from planted live small Christmas trees.

Stefani - you just found the silver lining to the recession cloud - developers aren't building mcmansions right now and maybe not for awhile!
