All I can say is I'm glad that weeks ago I had the foresight to schedule a massage for Friday after work. I did that because I knew it was an audit week. Little did I know I'd be dealing with such computer woes at work. (I get my new one today!) Little did I know Simon would be involved in a not-his-fault car accident yesterday morning.
He's not hurt and his car is repairable.
He was driving to school when an idiot driver decided to suddenly swerve across lanes to get to his exit, causing the other drivers to quickly adjust, shall we say? Everyone braked of course, when suddenly the 67 year old driver in front of Simon stopped dead. Simon ran into her and the guy behind him ran into him. The back-end damage was barely a scratch but his hood is a bit scrunched and his headlight and grill are broken.
He called me, very upset, because he thought the first driver had left the scene. So while he called 911, I flew out of work to go to where he was. As soon as I was out of our work driveway I called him, asking him to stay on the phone with me. By then the cop was there and it turns out the woman had pulled off the road quite a bit further ahead. So they straightened it all out. Simon was calm and told me not to come, he'd call me if he needed me. Guess he didn't want his mom showing up at the accident scene after all.
I went back to work, feeling a little sheepish, like I over-reacted, but truthfully, any parent would have done the same thing. I stuck my head in my boss's office to tell him I was back and things were fine. A couple of co-workers heard me talking and asked what was going on. As I walked back into my office, I . . . wait for it . . . here it comes . . . burst into tears.
And moved on with my day.
Thank God it's Thursday.

I'm glad Simon is okay. You never stop worrying about your kids no matter how old they are. :)
I love the story about the doggy. I shared it on facebook, giving you credit.
I totally would have done the same thing. But SonnyeBoy would probably just wave his nightstick at me and tell me to go home.
Thank goodness Simon is okay! Mothers are allowed to react like you did. In fact, it's our job.
Oh dear, Simon just can't catch a break, can he? I am so happy that he is okay but sorry about his car. I know his car means so much to him and he tries to be so careful. Fortunately he can usually fix it himself.
LOVE that story about Jasmine! It is so amazing that a dog once abused and neglected can go so overboard the other direction and adopt all the other critters. So sweet!
Glad he is OK. Around here any rear end collision they would say was your fault for following too close. :-)
Oh crap! I'm almost in denial as much as Simon is as to his fault. I just remembered, Bonnie - he DID get a ticket for following too close!
Convenient how I left out that fact out of my Poor Pitiful Simon Story, isn't it?
