Laura W Adams

.

I watched a segment on Laura W. Adams on HGTV's That's Clever yesterday and her paper collage faux painting blew my mind! It's made of layers and layers of itty bitty pieces of paper. She starts with 1" square pieces of interesting papers and adheres them in diagonal rows to the canvas with acrylic medium. The she builds the various elements one by one on top of that base. As I recall, each tree trunk was cut in one single piece but everything else is made from tiny bits of paper. One of my favorite parts is how she literally sprinkles paper bits so delicate they almost resemble large dust particles.

And she works on some big canvases. This piece above is 30" x 40". Her website shows a lot more of her work, all incorporating nature, some are larger, some are smaller.

After I wrote this, I had to go back and watch the segment again. Just fantastic!

I saw this segment too - her work is incredible! I think it's fabulous she's well paid... her work is very creative, not to mention time-consuming.
