The Fast & the Furriest

Saturday we joined one of Steve's work friends & her family with their 3 dogs to walk in the fundraiser for the Verona Street Animal Society. Steve's daughter went with us. I think we could have talked Simon into it too but he was going to his girlfriend's graduation that morning. The article in the Sunday's paper said there were 175 walkers.

The article in the Sunday's paper said there were 175 walkers. The weather could not have been better. Did you notice the stylish bandanna that Reggi is sporting? There's a story. Before we left the house, I told Steve that I was sure there would be plenty of dogs wearing bandannas and shirts and the like. He looked at me like, "Oh no, please don't!" So I didn't, but I noticed after the walk as we were milling about the vendor area, listening to the live music, that a veterinary practice was giving away leashes and bandannas. I made a bee line for one of the volunteers and asked for a bandanna. So it was mostly to mortify Steve - but c'mon, Reggi is so cute!
What really caught my eye was a small dog wearing a colorful jester style collar. But even if I could, I wouldn't put one of those on Reggi for fear she'd look like an inverted hippo in a tutu, ala Fantasia.

But seriously, does this look like a fun collar!?

Aw, what a cutie! I love the beagles - my nephew has one named Beagle Bailey.
Reggi is adorable!
We had a beagle mix - Her name was Bagel. She was brown all over and my daughter put bandanas and collars on her all the time.
My brother had a golden retriever, Duke. My brother was good friends with the guy who sold him Duke and frequently went up to Tughill to visit Gordon and crew. Whenever he went, Duke would go too and visit his mother and grandmother, father, siblings and cousins, etc. I think there are usually a dozen golden retrievers running around. My brother and wife would have to put a bandanna on Duke because they couldn't tell him from the others and he wouldn't always listen and come when called (selective hearing!).
