Sunday, January 4, 2004 I forgot to tell you yesterday that we gave Reggi a bath. Simon wanted to because he said she smells like outside. I didn't notice it but whatever. And that's one of the things my former not-a-dog-person self disliked most about dogs - they smell so dog-like. Now I bury my face in Reggi's fur every chance I get!
She has always been this docile every time we bathe her. That's not at all what we expected.
This weekend was not the big card making extravaganza I intended it to be but I got tons of stuff done and felt more caught up than I have been in eons. Among today's more interesting events. (Or not.)
I put together this paper star I bought online from Hometown Evolution for Steve's daughter's 17th birthday Tuesday. It lights up with a 40w light bulb - looks pretty cool actually. It's about 2' across. (Don't ask me how I ever ended up on that website, but I'm glad I did.)
I put these in Lizz's room too. I bought the plant on the right at Home Depot yesterday and planted it in that pot I made back when I was taking ceramics - 1978 it says! I bought that pot on the left at Home Depot also - and stuck that cutting in it.
The cutting came from this plant. I have no idea what it is and don't feel like looking it up. I was given about 3 cuttings from a really tall plant at work. I stuck them in the dirt as I was told, never expecting they'd really take hold. But they did! The plant at work is about 4' tall. I guess it's a succulent of some sort - and very interesting looking.
I also made Lizz some vegan chocolate chip cookies. I don't know if Steve will take those to her or if she'll be back here in the next few days. The recipe said the dough will be sort of crumbly so you sort of form it into the shape you want because it doesn't change shape when baking. I had about half of a cup of "dough" leftover except it was all chips with very little dough to hold it together. So I put it in the freezer and we'll have it on ice cream sometime! These vegan chocolate chips are very good. I tasted carob chips 100 years ago and was not amused. I also made banana bread which turned out green because I'm still using up some decorative sugar I've had for a long time. Tastes delicious though! It's even better with a little schmeer of butter or margarine. Divine. And I made more of those pretzel/chocolate kiss things to put in the container I'm giving back to Jen. She gave me a couple of her pierogies to try last week and my mama taught me it's always polite to return a food container with more food in it!
This is what the organized person requests for Christmas! Goofy, aren't I? I installed this in the pantry. Mom also gave me a rack that organizes cookie sheets. I put that in a cabinet that formerly had one of those sliding wire baskets in it. I still need to take the tracks out of the cabinet so maybe I'll show you a picture of that some other time. I didn't take a shower all day. Go me. Why can't I drive past Delta Sonic Car Wash without that insipid "Delta Dawn" song becoming firmly lodged in my brain? My apologies if that just happened to you while reading that sentence.
