I forgot to show you the ad I designed in Publisher, doing my part in the revitalization of advertising for Village Gifts. (Yes, we have a website now, but it's really just a placeholder, more to come, don't know when.) These are postcard sized and we give these out in the store and put them in the bags. I think I'm going to put one on the bulletin board in the mailroom at work, with my card so people will make the connection that that's the store where I sell my stuff. Sales are pitifully slow this time of year so I think this is such a fun way of generating some interest - weekly themed sales. And of course I'm particularly optimistic that I'll have some sales this week with my Valentine's Day cards. I think that's a holiday that most people shop for at the last minute - plus the store is offering a 20% discount on anything with a heart on it. If you are local, stop by the store and save!

I was again disappointed that Steve and I didn't have our Friday Date Night (although I did get a Stefani Night out of it, as you recall), but he redeemed himself by suggesting we go to the movies Saturday afternoon. We used free passes he'd gotten at work but we definitely stoked up on a small fortune of concessions - popcorn, lemonade (though I snuck a bottle of water in) and Popables - those one bite candy bar things. We saw Miracle, the movie about the 1980 Olympic gold medal win by Team USA. Loved Kurt Russell - he was just excellent! I was able to shed a tear, always a good sign, but not as much as I had hoped I would. But I love watching real events that I remember. The biggest thing I remember about those games was Jim Craig skating around the ice with the flag around his shoulders, "Where's my dad? Where's my dad". His mom had just passed away the previous year so it was particularly touching. In the movie, that moment I'd been waiting for - was just a quickie that might have been missed if you weren't paying attention. The movie used the original Al Michaels broadcast, which was cool - made it all the more real. And at the end of the movie, they did a Where Are They Now thing, which we always love. One player is a surgeon and the rest are into financial planning, real estate or coaching hockey. We both loved the movie and Steve said he's going to buy it when it comes out on video. Go see it.

I had not considered that it was a movie kids would like so the theater was packed and we had to sit on the side in the second row. You kind of get used to it. Sort of. Steve and I always love the preview of coming attractions and as we watched them I kept thinking, "Yuck, I don't want to see any of these movies," - then I realized, duh, they were pretty much kids movies too. They just all seemed so clichéd and tedious.

You stampers should go take a look at Marcy's Playground. I was introduced to this site by Marcy's sister, Lynn who designed it. Lynn emailed me about the Pine Tree Designs site. Lynn did a good job - I like how fast the cards load - and there are a lot of them! I think Marcy and I have the same taste - from her use of the web set by Full Moon Graphics to her color selection in her cards. Plus she does lots of leafy things, always a favorite with me. She's very talented!

One more plug. Make sure you notice the new banner on Robyn's Bitchypoo journal - done by our own Ann. It's amazing how she put together separate pictures of all their cats. It looks great! Ann's other recent claim to fame is the button on the left there for Marcia's Homespun Philosopher.

There. That ought to be enough links to keep you busy for a while.
