My parents are coming over for dinner tonight, just because. So I have a few minutes before they get here to toss up an entry. I have a couple of things to show you.

This is a picture that Mom asked me to make for her, in pinks. That background is a little bit brighter than I remember when I was working on it. Yikes. Hope she likes it - we'll find out tonight. I started out to make one using a gold frame. The background was a pale green and the pinks were all paler too. Where you see black here, I layered it with gold - to tie in with the frame. I thought it would be all subtle and artistic and flower-like. Nope, just hideous. I think what works best with this design is lots of contrast. Can't get much more contrasty than pink and black.

This, my friends, is the B2004.

The story behind this is that I said to Jennifer I was half-tempted to make up 100 (or whatever) birthday cards at the beginning of the year so I'd always be ready to send out a card. That way I could spontaneously send out cards too, for birthdays I was late in learning about, for instance. But I thought maybe that idea was a tad too anal. Then Jen said she'd been thinking of doing that too. You know me and my WWJD (what would Jen do?) policy. Good enough for Jennifer, good enough for me. I started thinking about this in January and even planned to send out cards for birthdays that had passed earlier in the month, so I could say I sent them out for the whole year. Anyway, we got to laughing about having a new design for each year, and calling each card B2004, B2005, etc. Then, do we have A2004 for anniversary cards and S2004 (sympathy), TY2004 (thank you)? The other beauty of this plan is that we don't have to try to remember, "Did I already make this kind of card for this person?"

I made one of the above card for an order this week and while I had the stuff out, I made a few more, because I can hardly make one card at a time anymore. Ta-da! The B2004 was born! This is a good way to use up scraps too for the stamped design part. I get to use those sparkly stone things that I used to think were too fussy but now I adore. I love using eyelets too - and it's very dimensional so it's a very Stefani card.

So if you are someone I send a birthday card to - surprise! Actually you might be surprised because you never know what the colors might be. (If you think I don't know when your birthday is and want to casually drop me a email, I'd be happy to add you to my calendar. I think I already have most of my regular readers. Don't be shy - if you're not sure, email me anyway!)

I love birthdays.

Mine is March 11.
