I actually had a little work-related crabbing to do tonight but I think I'll save that for another day. Yep, always leave your audience hungering for more, that's my motto.

Today was my short work day though I got home from work later than I do on a regular work day. Why, you ask? Because I did a shitload of errands.

1. Picked up a prescription from Simon's doctor.

2. Took a quickie eye exam at my eye doctor's office to renew my driver's license. I've heard other people comment on how weird it is to renew your license for another eight years without getting a new photo. So by the time I renew this again, I'll be 56 years old, with a photo from when I was 40. So the photo will be 16 years younger than me. Do I get a new photo at some point or will I be 90 with a 50 year old photo. Mom? Dad? What's the story? I'm not complaining about having a "young thing" photo and I sure do like being able to renew it by mail.

3. I met with the small-business bank dude to see about having a line of credit available for Pine Tree Designs.

4. I got home in time to eat a couple of crackers, then took Reggi to the vet for her heartworm check. Paul was here with Simon so I told Simon he didn't have to go with me - but next time he's definitely going! (He usually does go with me.) It's so much easier with 2 people. We walked in and there was another beagle who looked very much like Reggi - but thinner. Oh, and get this! Reggi has gained 3 pounds since the last time she was there and was told to lose weight! We've cut out all but the very rare snack, feed her specific amounts of food twice a day. We're almost out of dog food, then we'll go to lean food. Admittedly, she hasn't been getting outside very much with this ridiculous amount of snow and cold this year. I really thought she had maintained even if she didn't lose. But gained? Oh boy.

The beagle owner told me they once adopted a beagle from a shelter that weighed 56 pounds so that made me feel better. I guess.

I did walk Reggi yesterday because we were having a heat wave - it was 31 degrees but nice and sunny. Admittedly, anything below 30 and I'm not much up for it.

5. I have not been able to connect with the owner from Shabby Shak (remember, she suggested framing my pieces?) so today I dropped off my "portfolio" aka 4 pieces I'd made recently for framing. The woman in the store told me she'd be in tomorrow night. I'll give her a few days then follow up with her.

6. I checked out a new little shop behind Shabby Shak, called Art and Soul Studio. The owner, Joanne Sharpe, says she's been there about 2 months. She sells art she's created, like wall hangings and yes, (printed) greeting cards but she seems to make most of her money teaching classes. She's licensed some of her designs to companies too, she told me - like Toland Flags, for instance. It's a very whimsical, really colorful place. The classes range from beaded jewelry, eyelash scarves, Precious Metal Clay jewelry, painted furniture, mosaics, faux finishes, etc. (She has several teachers besides herself.) They also offer birthday parties for kids, girls night out - that sort of thing. We talked for a little bit and I left my card with her just by way of conversation (though you never know what might develop where!) I just might take a class from her in painted furniture. It's been officially on my to-do list for years now to paint our kitchen chairs in that colorful, funky, whimsical style. It doesn't seem like I'd need a class but I think it would be good to get me out of the chute. I was telling her how symmetrical and organized my brain is and it's hard for me to let go of that. She said her brain is just the opposite. Maybe I could talk Gretchen into taking a class with me?

7. Since I was in the village, I stopped at the gift store, Best Friends, because one of the lines of cards I want to sell along with my handmade cards lists them as a retailer. Guess what? Those cards weren't there! I suppose that's good news and bad news, right? No competition but they must have dropped the line because it wasn't selling. I'm still up for it though.

I haven't forgotten about expounding more on why I want to buy wholesale merchandise to sell retail. But I was awfully jazzed about all that I accomplished today. I'll write about it soon.

Dinner:   Beef, Beer & Barley Stew and salad. This stew was outstanding if I may say. It's a Cooking Light recipe - but damn them for making their online cookbook for paying customers only. I actually typed the whole thing out because I save my recipes as Word documents, filed in folders, on my computer. (Probably should have scanned it, huh?.) As I typed it I realized I hardly followed the recipe at all! Like I made it in the crockpot, no beer, no half dozen other ingredients. I'll post it in my next entry if there's any interest. It's a good winter stew, for sure.

Reading:  I read Jennifer's copy of PaperCrafts Magazine while waiting for 2:00 to roll around when the eye doctor's office does the eye exams for license renewal. This used to be Crafts Magazine and is the premier issue of this new incarnation. It's coincidentally working out perfectly because Jen subscribed to this one at the same time I subscribed to yet another new (to me anyway) magazine, PaperWorks Magazine. So we'll share both magazines!

Listening to in the car...And Never Let Her Go, by Ann Rule. (It's in the middle of the trial - just 4 more tapes to go!)
