Tuesday, March 2, 2004 Time for some braggin' about my little sister. (She loves when I call her that. Especially because we are quickly approaching the time of year, when for 3 short weeks, I'm 4 years older than she is.) Where was I? Oh! Gretchen wrote this article - please go read it right now! And then later, go to her website and read some more cool stuff she wrote. You'll especially like the ones about moi! Seriously folks, she's one fine writer and I'm awfully proud of her. Stay tuned - you'll be hearing more about this author. And you can say you knew her when.
I can't wait to see the new Aquatic Facility that's being added to our Perinton Community Center. The new class schedule arrived yesterday and it features several pages on the facility which is scheduled to open in late summer. The facility is 22,000 square feet and contains 3 bodies of water: 25 yard rectangular lap pool, leisure pool (with 2 story water slide, zero-depth entry, water channel, vortex, bubble bench and water toys) and a whirlpool. Yikes. Until I started reading about the progress lately, I had no idea it was going to be like this. When it was first proposed a few years ago, I remember thinking, "Oh, a pool. That will be nice." I'm not a swimmer but I knew it would be well used. I figured it would be pretty big, but basically a rectangular pool. Holy shit - this thing is going to be amazing. One of the pending programs is water walking. I wonder if I would do that. Oops - in a suit, in public?? Not unless they turn all the lights off. Meanwhile, I'm seriously considering taking their composting class. Gretchen? Dad? Anyone interested in going with me? It's April 8, 7:00-8:00, $16. (Don't you love how I use this journal as my personal email? It saves time and lets me confirm my family is really reading this stuff.)
