I'm in hog heaven! I'm thinking I forgot to tell you that last Saturday I bought a Palm Pilot on eBay. I know, I've turned into a regular eBayer, for cryin' outloud. That damn Steve has been a bad influence on me once again. Anyway, it arrived today - and I just love it! It's really easy to use. Between setting up some new functions in our work email, now this - I'm just so technologically happy today, I could spit.
This is kind of an old fashioned quilty looking card I made last night with my new Outlines stamp. I wasn't really sure where I was going with this other than something quilty. I sort of like the faded look of the "fabric" (direct to paper technique) with the buttons.
For those interested, I posted a bit about Jennifer's recipe for those fantastic dark chocolate raspberry birthday brownies in yesterday's comments but I'll repeat here. Jennifer is a great cook who doesn't necessarily have recipes written down. But it's a standard powdered sugar frosting recipe so I'm sure you can wing it. She mixes about 2 tablespoons of butter/margarine, a pinch of salt, a splash of vanilla and maybe a cup of confectioner's sugar and as much milk as needed to make it creamy. Then of course you can add more sugar or milk to correct the consistency. (This is normally how I end up with a vat of the frosting.) And she mixes in "some" raspberry jam.
Dinner: Kathy took me to Bocaccini's for a birthday lunch so dinner for me was just some Wheat Thins, cheese and Jell-O. In one of my rare generous moments, I brought Simon home McDonald's for dinner. I offered to bring home any take out he wanted but he had a hard time deciding because he's watching his manly figure these days. What a difference a year makes. Thursday is Steve's night to go out to dinner with Lizz, but they didn't go tonight, so Steve brought home a cheeseburger sub and garlic bread. (Yes, he's a self-confessed bread-aholic.) Reading: Girl Clown, by the lovely and talented Mary Wise. She wrote this novel based on her days as a circus clown for last November's NaNoWriMo and she was kind enough to send me a copy. When she's published, we'll all say we knew her when. Listening to in the car: The E-Myth Revisited: Why Most Small Businesses Don't Work and What to Do About It by Michael E. Gerber. I'm not sure I'm completely down with this book. It's only two tapes so I'll finish it. The first part I listened to was all statistics about how few small businesses succeed. Well now, thanks for pumping me up. Every time I think he's talking about something that doesn't apply to me, a small nugget leaps out at me. I've definitely learned a few things and it's made me think more deeply about some things. I think this abridged version will be enough - seems like it would be pretty dry reading.
