This cracks me up no end. And I signed up to do it.
I love my Palm Pilot more than I can say. I dream in lists now. I arrived early at the periodontist's office this afternoon so I sat in the car and made a new list. Next I'll make a list of all my lists. This is the guy that fixed my deep pockets a few years ago so I see him every 6 months to keep an eye on things. He checked the deepest pocket that I had - that he bone grafted as best he could - and he's always totally amazed that it's never gotten worse. He told me today that I'm a dental miracle. After he concluded his look-see: Dr. Romeo: You look good. Stefani: Yeah, well I get that a lot. Hygienist: I bet you do! Stefani: I tell ya, if I had a nickel for every time I've heard that. I crack them up. They love me there, especially the hygienist when I told Dr. Romeo that I like her and he should give her a raise. (And that was even after she put the pointy instruments away!) I really should have asked her for her name again. I only see her twice a year and she can cheat and see my name on my chart. Maybe they should wear name tags. "Hello, My Name is Andrea and I'm Here to Make You Bleed."
Orange Breakfast Loaf turned into garlic bread is better than it sounds. Honey Mustard Chicken mixed with pasta and meaty red sauce is, um, interesting. I love using up leftovers.
I placed a wholesale order for cards from Blue Turtle Studio this morning. I happened upon this site last year when Googling for inspiration for a company name. I didn't want anything too cutesy or too specific. When I saw this name, I knew I could have something just as nature-y and artsy - and Pine Tree Designs popped into my head. I ordered some cards from one of the artists associated with this studio, Michelle Rothacker, too. (She does things with my beloved Queen Anne's Lace!) I'm all done buying cards to sell until I see what sells best. Except for maybe these. These are dried flower cards made far better than I could ever dream of. I'm sure the question most often asked of this artist is, "How do you find the time to produce such beautiful cards and maintain the gardens that produce the flowers?"
I fixed the rail in the refrigerator door tonight with epoxy so hopefully we'll no longer have to endure the bottles of dressing falling on our feet whenever the duct tape decides to give way. Simon actually applied the epoxy because the boy does love a good (short) project. I love checking things off my list.
Dinner: Why do I have this down here when I keep covering dinner in the entry itself?? Steve's doing a sports trivia contest at a bar tonight so it was just me and Simon for dinner. Simon stuck with the more traditional meaty red sauce on his spaghetti and a garlic-sprinkled bagel (left over from Friday's work breakfast - see what I mean about leftovers?) If Steve and his team win tonight, they will win tickets to see the Toronto Blue Jays play. In Toronto. I smell a side trip to see The Lion King (if it's still there, I mean). A good relationship is about compromise, don't you think? He could yuck it up with boys only on this trip but then he'd have to look at my pouty face for the rest of the year. Heck, he can go to the game with the boys. I'd rather stay in the hotel room reading and watching movies and ordering truffles from room service. Oh wait, does that mean he gets to wait in the hotel room while I go see The Lion King? I don't think so! Besides, he'd love The Lion King. Me love baseball? Not bloody likely. Stay tuned. Reading: Girl Clown, by the lovely and talented Mary Wise.
Listening to in the car: Fast Food Nation: The Dark Side of the All-American
Meal by Eric
Schlosser. This book is as
fascinating as described by everyone else. He's just been talking about
the building of the Disney, then McDonalds empires. I may have to
read Grinding it Out: The Making of McDonald's by Ray Kroc.
Anyone read this? Dad?
