Sunday, March 28, 2004 I'm out of my mind. I have worked on getting one new page up on Pine Tree Designs for about 4 hours now. The page looks perfect in Front Page but doesn't look the same when I upload it and I look at it online. I changed one thing on another page, just to see, and that uploaded and I could view it just fine. I've walked away from it once but had to come back and work on it again, because this pisses me off! I want it done and I don't like being outsmarted by a computer. Heck, my calculator is smarter than I am, but you know what I mean. I know it's probably just one tiny thing, but I'm not seeing it. So now I'll walk away again, for the rest of the day/night. The page in question has Marcy's new cards on it but I'll save it to show you when I can link to it. In case you want to buy some or something. :-)
The first time I walked away I went to Village Gifts to put Marcy's cards in my rack - and pick up some cards for an order. When I got there, there was a Closed Today sign on the door. Huh? I saw tools on the floor and lights on so I knocked on the door and Terry was there rearranging things and doing a little remodeling. He had mentioned it at a meeting. I can't wait to see what he's done. I'm sure even just a few things will feel like a whole new face lift. I told Steve that I feel the best of Village Gifts is yet to come. I'm happy to see changes and new incarnations.
On the drive home I did a little trash pickin'. The canning kettle is in good shape but I have one so I want to use this as a planter for the deck. Those bar stools are in pretty good shape - one is missing a rung or two and the seat is loose. But . . . I see plant stands! Not sure where I'll put them yet - probably the living room and/or family room.
I still can't figure out what's wrong with my Haloscan account - why the comments are not being emailed to me. I've checked every setting. Nothing should have changed and doesn't look like it has. I deactivated the email part, then tried to activate it again. I'm not even getting the email(s) they said they sent to tell me how to activate it. I checked my Mailwasher blacklisted sites - nada. I'm thinking it must have something to do with that though. The other day I started getting spam once again that looks like it's coming from me. But I just delete it, I don't blacklist it. And you can't bounce email to yourself. I don't know. So yeah, I'm having a computerific day. I'm open to suggestions from anyone. Getting a good night's sleep at looking at it again tomorrow comes to mind.
I could tell this morning that this was not the Basement Reorganizing Weekend I thought it would be. I have other things that are really a higher priority. The good news is Mom took us all out to breakfast this morning, at The Log Cabin. That would be: Mom, Dad, Gretchen, Nick, Paul, Steve, Simon, Gershum, DJ and me. A fine time was had by all. And it's 55 degrees with lots of sunshine today so that's certainly good for the soul. As I was driving home from Village Gifts, I decided I was going to sit on the deck with Reggi and let the sun wash over me. But then I got all happy finding free stuff I can actually use. And now I really want to clean up my studio and finish up a few things so I'll feel like I accomplished something today.
Dinner: Wasabi Steak & Noodles. I'll let you know how it turns out. Reading: Girl Clown, by the lovely and talented Mary Wise. Hey - did you know you can order Girl Clown now?? I'm about halfway through the one Mary sent me but I ordered my copy today. It won't be here for about two weeks so I may read something else in the meantime so I can read it in a real book format. I printed the entire file Mary emailed me and have been reading it in a cumbersome 3-ring binder. Anyway, congratulations Mary, on being published - I'm very proud of you!!
Listening to in the car: Fast Food Nation: The Dark Side of the All-American
Meal by Eric
Schlosser. People say once you read this book, you'll never want to eat fast
food again. People are right - and I don't even think I'm to the truly
icky part yet.
