Finally!
Mango Madness. I mentioned it's definitely COLOR, didn't I? That's the bottom bunk. Last night Steve and Simon took the top bunk downstairs to our rec room, making it sort of our guest room. That's where DJ sleeps but I have a feeling he'll continue to sleep on the futon that's already there. It will be nice though when more of the boys sleep over, though they certainly don't mind sleeping on the floor. I mean, I guess they don't - they keep coming back!
The lighter wall is Vintage Orange. Lizz and Erick spray painted the doors and the outlet & switch covers. She wanted to spray paint the blinds too but I wasn't convinced it would turn out decent enough. In the end, we all agreed that the white blinds against the white woodwork adds a nice bit of brightness. Steve put a table and bookshelf back in the room last night and organized the computer cords a bit better. And he set up the TV/VCR. I assume Lizz will put everything else back today.
I met my dear friend Nancy for lunch at McArdle's today. That was a nice break in the middle of the day. I was about 5 minutes late getting there because I had just finished the woodwork. She had asked me to frame some of the cards I'd given her over the years so I gave most of them to her today. As I left the house I realized I had not taken pictures of them! I really wanted to show you but I'll take pictures when she has them hung on the wall at her house. I'm quite pleased with how they turned out - and I think she was too. After that Steve and I went to Home Depot to buy Lizz's blinds, some light bulbs - and I think I finally found a retractable clothesline for the back yard that's long enough to replace the one that became hopelessly entangled (inside the case) at the end of last year. I've never had a problem with these things but I could not for the life of me figure out how to get the damn thing open so I could fix it. I would much rather fix something than replace it but I finally gave in and bought a new one. Tonight was the final Spring Break Blow-out. We bought a sheet pizza and a bucket of wings. Lizz and Erick were here, watching movies - and Simon and DJ & Gershum were doing their usual assortment of computer games, video games and basketball. We still had some leftovers - so guess what's for Sunday breakfast? Late afternoon, after I finished washing Lizz's windows and vacuuming the carpet, I plunked my ass down in my studio and let Steve finish the clean up. I was beat. We're supposed to watch the movie "Panic Room" tonight but we'll see how long I last. I told Steve several times over the past few days how nice it's been to be working on a project together again. He agreed and I really think he meant it. It was like the old days - trips to Home Depot, putting in a full day of productivity with good stuff to show at the end. I feel completely filled up and satisfied.
Dinner: Pizza with pepperoni and onions with 1/4 of the pizza dedicated to Steve's steak, onions and peppers. The bucket of 50 wings was half sweet & sour and half barbecue. I don't usually eat very many wings but these were pretty tasty. Reading: Handmade for Profit, by Barbara Brabec.

Ladies. I loved one of the very first things I heard. This is not about
clipping coupons and saving pennies, this is about saving $1000 on a
car, for instance. I'm a mediocre coupon clipper but I've been thinking
about giving it up again. The negativity of the time-consuming-ness of
it outweighs the couple of dollars I save per trip. The scale has been
tipping towards giving it up for a month or so and that one sentence I
heard in that creaky old lady's voice was enough to convince me.
