Wednesday, April 28, 2004 What a hoot and a half this has been. I emailed the link to a bunch of friends this morning and received lots of responses from people. The admin people at eBay must have really had their hands full. The hit counter now says 6,127,276. I knew once I received the link yesterday morning from my friend Nancy that, as these go, they just grow exponentially like gangbusters. At one point this morning Jennifer told me the high bid was $300,000-something. That's when I began to once again think it might be a hoax. I checked the page and it said $600,000-something. I hit refresh and it was back to $300,000-something. There were two people bidding like crazy. I told Jen they must have each entered some ridiculous high bid and the system went crazy with the back & forth. Next time I checked, it was more reasonable and the seller had added another note. I received an email that he was on The Today Show. Go read his new notes. He's got a website coming up, for which I'm glad. I like a story with an definitive ending. Click on bid history and scroll to the bottom and see all the retracted bids, mostly "administrative cancellation". Look how many morons who bid that aren't even registered users. Lots of good entertainment has been provided, for sure. And some wingnut bought a $1200 wedding dress for $3850.
That's all for tonight. Time to go see who gets their ass kicked on American Idol tonight. Speaking of which, for some silly reason, the rant I wrote last night about Jennifer Hudson getting robbed last week, kind of disappeared when I posted the entry. So this morning I rewrote and posted it. Not that you have to go back and read it or anything; it's not exactly earth-shattering commentary. I just wanted you to know that I know I'm a dork.
Dinner: Paige's Perfect Pork Chops w/noodles for me & Steve and fried rice for Simon. Good thing I made both because Simon ate the whole package of fried rice by himself. That boy loves rice, big-time. Reading: Handmade for Profit, by Barbara Brabec.
