And Another Thing . . . Tuesday, January 4, 2005
Sometimes I'm such a moron, it's frightening. Last night Verona started making this funny noise - trilling or chirping. She seemed to be walking funny. We thought she'd been rough-housing with Reggi and overdid it, but I called the vet because I was worried. He asked me questions and she mostly seemed okay. He suggested isolating her so she could get some rest so we stuck her in Lizz's room for the night. Initially she seemed better in the morning, but then she exhibited the same behavior. I took her to the vet at 10:00 this morning and he couldn't find anything wrong with her but agreed that maybe the rough-housing did it. He also updated her shots. He judged from her teeth and weight that she's probably 8 months old instead of the 5 months old that Steve's sister-in-law figured. By the time I got home tonight she was quite a bit worse - and maybe you cat owners saw this coming - she's in HEAT! The vet had felt her ovaries and said she would be coming into heat pretty soon. Guess so! I just some read stuff on the internet and she has all the classic symptoms. I had already made an appointment to have her spayed next Monday. Thank goodness, because she doesn't seem happy. Twenty-four hours ago I held her on my lap on the floor, tears in my eyes, "There's something wrong with her!" Tonight, "Aww, knock it off, for cryin' outloud!" I've never had a pet in heat before because we always get them spayed the moment they are old enough. Heat. I'll be damned.
This is the hydrangea I made with that same die as I made yesterday's pussy willow card. I saw a picture of one in the catalog in the store last week - but couldn't remember the exact details of how it was made. I'm very happy with the flower but I think the stem is a tad too thick. I made a thinner stem first and it was too thin. Think I over-compensated!
Don't forget to check out the fabulous sale prices at Pine Tree Designs. I'm selling all Christmas and Hanukkah cards - and the 2005 calendars too at 35% off. And I'll throw in a few of the really nice sachets I have left too. They are wintery/Christmasy looking, smelling all cinnamony nice!
